Missing star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually secures them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

A further victory in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal direct passage to the knockout stages, especially after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Grasp the Moment

This match offered a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second game in match.

A Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season were no match against a mostly rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

Dominance Established from the Start

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
