PSG Overcomes Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup holders after the French winger opened the net early on.

However, the southern French side struck two times in the closing moments to seize a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 penalty victory.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
