It's tough for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and once went over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

It needed as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their batsmen to possess a record if never given the possibility.

Finally, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Some will argue the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a challenging time because it appeared my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her major advantage - and an invaluable trait in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from there the right-hander was in motion.

"A chance to play and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was removed Australia needed 66 more at run per delivery - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the confidence to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament should hear.

During the last week a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed thoughts of retirement, this championship is anticipated as her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a global event as captain.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
